Malzahn won the Tigers an SEC Championship in 2013, two years later in 2015 the Tigers and Malzahn limped to a 7-6 record with a Birmingham Bowl win in one of Auburns old stomping grounds Legion Field. four years years later in 2017 Auburn and Malzahn went back to the SEC Championship game and fell short in a rematch against Georgia
during the eight year time span of 2013 – 2020 Malzahn and the Tigers have captured three Iron Bowl wins and one SEC Championship. however the Head Coach has zero National Championships and zero Playoff appearances
Malzahn has not shown signs of losing his teams during this eight year span yet Auburn fans still want him fired dubbing him the “wrong captain” to the steer the ship that is Auburn Football
we decided to look at the six previous Tiger Head Coaches and their success in terms of Iron Bowls SEC Championships, National Championships
Shug Jordan 1951-1975 – three SEC Championships, one National Championship, nine Iron Bowl wins
Doug Barfield 1976-1980 – zero SEC Championships, Zero National Championships, zero Iron Bowl wins
Pat Dye 1981-1992 – four SEC Championships, zero National Championships, six Iron Bowl wins
Terry Bowden 1993 -1998 – zero SEC Championships, zero National Championships, three Iron Bowl Wins
Tommy Tuberville 1999-2008 – one SEC Championship, zero National Championship, seven Iron bowl wins
Gene Chizik 2009-2012 – one SEC Championship, one National Championship, one Iron Bowl win
out of all those the closest comparable to Malzahn is Terry Bowden whos record against Alabama was 3-3, Malzahns is currently 3-5
perhaps Auburn fans expect too much from Malzahn but then again why shouldnt they? their in state rival Alabama has won six SEC Championships and Four national Championships since 2009
Auburn and Malzahn is a fine example of holding a marriage together only time will tell when divorce arrives
With two games remain on Auburns 2020 slate those are a home game with Texas A&M and a road trip to Mississippi State
the things that led to Chiziks, Tubervilles and Bowdens demise was they had lost the teams they had coached during their final years see Auburn getting blown out of its own stadium Jordan Hare 63-21 during its 2012 Football season
of course Malzahn has head scratching losses as well 2014 against Texas A&M, 2018 against Tennessee. 2020 against South Carolina. having to depend on overtime to beat JSU in 2015. bowl losses to UCF, Wisconsin and Minnesota and lets not forget those pesky Georgia losses
THE STRANGE AND GREAT STATE OF ALABAMA 
I’m not saying that this is the reason the former Auburn offensive coordinator is now stuck at Arkansas State. But this is a guy who had universities lined up out the door, and they all slowly hired somebody else. Parents love to say, “children should be seen and not heard.” Maybe that saying should be implied to more than just children.
