Why wrestling doesn’t have a strong foothold in Alabama anymore
I went to a WWE event back in January in Montgomery and again in Birmingham a month later not surprising the Birmingham event had more people. But this begs the question what has happened to wrestling’s strong foothold in this state.
The boom period for professional wrestling in Alabama peaked around the late 90s. And early 00s I believe back then you had stars like the Armstrongs, Adrian Street, Eddie Gilbert, Shane Douglas, etc but popularity for pro wrestling in the state of Alabama has seemingly died out! Maybe it’s due folks not really promoting their shows anymore the old fashioned way instead they are going the route of streaming !
Most independent promotions in state make their stars enough money for gas and a cheeseburger and that’s it, another reason I believe for wrestling’s declining popularity in the state is no one wants to see Joe from work get hit in the head with a chair maybe wrestling in Alabama will become popular again soon but it’s future looks bleak
